Forte Connect students are shown the teachers that match their learning preferences
Which students will see my Forte Connect teaching profile?
The Forte Connect algorithm determines which teachers should be shown to which students during the matching process, based on similarities in the information that students submit on their onboarding survey and the Teaching Preferences that teachers specify in their Teaching Profile (preferred genres, student age, current skill level, understanding of music theory/music reading, and aspiration level).
If you as a teacher specify that you only want to teach students age 13+, your Teaching Profile will not be shown to students 12 or under. If you specify that you only want to teach students who haven't started learning yet or are beginners, your Teaching Profile will not be shown to students who say they are currently at the intermediate or advanced level.
Students can further filter their teacher options based on lesson price, availability by day, and teachers who are connected to one of our verified partner institutions (the Recording Academy, the Royal College of Music, and the Aspen Music Festival and School).
How many teachers are shown to Forte Connect students at options?
Students will see their top 50 teacher matches, with the top four most closely matched teachers appearing prominently at the top of the suggested teacher list.
Students are able to view the following information on all teacher profiles at a glance:
- Teacher profile picture
- First name and first initial of the last name
- Length of time they've been teaching that instrument/area of study
- Teacher's overall star rating, based on student reviews
- Trial Lesson price (either 15 minutes or 30 minutes, depending on which Trial Lesson lengths are available)
- Standard lesson price for a 30-minute lesson
Students also see the Brief Introductions for their top four most closely matched teachers, as well as three highlighted reasons why each teacher could be great for them.
Teachers with Elite memberships are also highlighted with an "Elite" badge. Teachers who are verified members of the Recording Academy, verified alumni of the Aspen Music Festival and School, or verified alumni, students, or faculty of the Royal College of Music are further highlighted with corresponding verified teacher banners.Is there a limit as to how many students are able to view my teaching profile?
Nope! There is no limit as to how many students will be shown your Teaching Profile via Forte Connect, regardless of your Forte membership type.
How can I get students to book Trial Lessons with me?
Forte doesn't determine which students connect with which teachers for Trial Lessons. That piece is 100% student-driven, with students seeing all of their recommended teacher options (based on the info above), choosing a teacher, and then booking a Trial Lesson.
Teachers with the most engaging, detailed profiles tend to attract students the most quickly, as do teachers with great Video Introductions.
